Adrian Peterson thinks Michael Vick would make the 2014 version of our favorite Purple football team a playoff team. That’s nice.

Pretty sure #28 meant ‘immediately’, but we’ve all felt the wrath of auto-connect.

Either way, it’s clear that AD loves him some Vick, tampering issues be damned (Vick’s contract with the Eagles doesn’t officially expire until March 11th). But I think Adrian should curb his enthusiasm and Vikings fans should thank heavens that Adrian isn’t RB/GM.

Michael Vick could help the Vikings make the playoffs in 2014, but you could make that case far any number of current Vikings QBs (Ponder), free agents, or incoming rookies. Plus many of those options would be a better choice for the Vikings’ long term future.

Our beloved team is in a full on, factory restore reboot. Jared Allen is gone. Kevin Williams is likely gone. Chad Greenway might be a cap casualty. Now is NOT the time to bring in a veteran bandaid who has 2, maybe 3 years left in an injury prone career.

This team isn’t a QB away like the 2009 team (Favre) or – debatably – the 2011 team (McNabb). The Mike Zimmer Era is starting from scratch and it makes more sense to draft/draft/trade for a young QB who fits what Zim wants to do on offense. Keep Christian Ponder around as a “quasi-okay” option on the last year of his contract. Fully rebuild the defense in Zimmer & Edwards’ image and let’s go win the North.

Michael Vick is old, injury prone, and (2002 Wild Card Game @ Green Bay aside) has never stepped up in big games. What’s the point in rolling with Ron Mexico?

Plus, to address the elephant in the room, I understand that Vick did his time and paid his penance for his crimes, but I will never be able to forgive him for what he and his associates did to those animals.

I am happy that he’s rehabilitated himself and his image. The consensus is that he is now a model citizen. That’s great. I wish him well in life and in his career.

Just not here in Minnesota.
