Darrin Nelson Full Interview

 

Darrin Nelson is a Stanford grad, an 11-year NFL veteran and 2014 College Football Hall of Fame inductee.

At Stanford, Darrin was one of Bill Walsh’s original dual threat RBs compiling 2130 yards rushing and 970 receiving during their two years together in Palo Alto. Darrin finished his college career as the NCAA’s all-time all purpose yards leader with 6885 (currently 15th).

As the 7th overall pick of the 1982 NFL draft, Darrin went on to an NFL career with the Vikings and Chargers. He ended his career with 23 TDs (18 rushing, 5 receiving) and 11,017 all-purpose yards (4442 rushing, 2559 receiving, and 4016 in the return game).

Darrin is currently a senior associate athletic director at UC-Irvine after serving in a similar fashion at his alma mater Stanford.
